Welcome to our Web site!

We are Arnis and Rosemarie Buza from High Bridge, NJ. Both of us are now retired. I worked at a few companies before settling down at BASF in New Jersey and staying 27 years and retiring in the summer of 2001. Rosemarie just retired on March 1, 2002 after spending 20 years working for the North Hunterdon Regional High School District - Voorhees High School - Home of the Vikings. Prior to returning to work she raised our 4 sons who are all now married and living in Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. They have blessed us with 10 grandchildren.

This picture is of one of our grandkids Conner - Here he is holding a politically incorrect toy. Good Boy!

A Little Family History - From the Buza Side

Thats me on the left and my brother Maris on the right. Estimate that the picture was taken between 1942 and 1944 in Latvia at the school where my mother and fathert taught school. I was born in 1939 in Latvia and immigrated into the United States in 1950 when I was 10 years old. My father at that time was already 50 years old and my mother was 46. Both of them had their lives torn apart by World War II. To this day I am amazed how resilient they were in dealing with their circumstances.

To provide a little background on our history I have provided the following items:

Notes of Irma Buza Oct 14 - 26, 1944   Notes written by my mother while with the German Army Field Kitchen

Journal of Herbert Buza - Oct 28,1944 Journal written by my father in a German hospital in 1944 where he details the our last days in Latvia.

Leaving Konitz January 28 - Feb 1/2,1945  Beginning of the flight through Pomerania/Poland

Childhood Remembrances  - My remembrances of Germany either direct or as told by others. Also some data on our first years in the US.

School Site - On Easter Sunday in 2007 I found this web site dedicated to the school in Latvia where I was born and my mother and father taught. This find was the inspiration for deciding to revisit Latvia in 2008. Firm plans were started on Thanksgiving Day of 2007. I have translated the site pages for the school to English. The grammar could be fixed a little but you get the general Idea

Father and Mother in Germany - Between 1945 and 1950

My parents wedding day in 1932

My brother an me at the school - probably 1941

My father Herbert and mother Irma with my brother Maris in 1938 or 1939
